artists - Vivienne du Toit

Vivienne du Toit grew up in the Okavango Delta in Botswana where she began drawing from an early age.

Vivienne went to art school in Cape Town in the early 1980's and completed a 4 year Advanced Diploma in Design. She worked in the design industry for 12 years before immigrating to Australia in 1998. Since arriving in Sydney Vivienne has been painting and drawing professionally and has had many exhibitions.

Vivienne's work is either figurative or abstract; she enjoys exploring texture, line and form, this is evident in the majority of her works.

"My work is a tribute to the years spent in the design industry. I am passionate about figure drawing and find it an extremely engaging and meditative process.

In my abstract works I attempt to connect with the subconscious and rely on memories, moods and moments of my life in Africa and Australia.  My work is therefore ever evolving, never static."

Vivienne won the Packing Room Prize at Hunter's Hill Art show 2007 for a Figurative work and received Commended for Drawing in the Northbridge Art Prize in 2006.

Vivienne has work in private collections in Australia, and Overseas.
